Rep. Doyle has served as a climate champion throughout his time in office and has championed adding additional climate resiliency staff at the local and county level, and also fought to hold polluters accountable for PFAS contamination of water resources. With the opportunity to possibly flip the state assembly this cycle it is important that we make sure Rep. Doyle is re-elected as his legislative experience and knowledge will be pivotal to pass important legislation in the future sessions.
Steve began his journey in government as an intern for Congressman Al Baldus in Washington, D.C. in 1980, which led to a full-time role on the Congressman’s staff. Returning to Wisconsin in 1981, Steve attended law school at UW-Madison while also working in the State Legislature. Transitioning to academia in the late 1980s, he taught State and Local Government and the American Legal System at UW-La Crosse, an experience that solidified his belief in education as an essential investment in our future. Steve's tenure as County Board Chair emphasized collaboration across sectors, showing how partnerships between La Crosse County, municipalities, and the private sector can save tax dollars, create jobs, and improve community living standards. Alongside his legal career as a partner at Johns, Flaherty & Collins, SC, which he co-founded with his wife Gloria in 1988, Steve has specialized in mediation, helping resolve disputes through mutual understanding. He has a track record of bipartisan cooperation, serving on task forces addressing adoption and suicide prevention, and is committed to continuing this work to benefit Wisconsin residents.
