Farooq Mughal

Farooq has been a strong advocate for the development of battery and EV power plants in Georgia. He visited Plant Vogtle, a nuclear power facility, and voted in favor of HB 300, which establishes a solar panel trust fund. Farooq supports environmental justice efforts through HB 260, the Georgia Environmental Justice Act of 2023, and backed HB 79 to protect the Okefenokee Swamp from mining activities that could harm water quality in nearby communities. Additionally, he is actively seeking transportation funding to reduce traffic and emissions in the district and is working to encourage clean energy manufacturing companies to operate in Georgia. Farooq has been an ally and advocate for pro-climate policies and we are proud to support him!

Farooq grew up in Gwinnett County as the proud son of immigrant parents who moved from Pakistan to Lawrenceville, Georgia, in 1995. From a young age, he learned the values of hard work, integrity, and the importance of giving back to the community and country. Farooq earned his Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Mercer University in 2000 and has since become a dedicated business owner, husband, and father with a deep desire to build a better Georgia for everyone. He has worked tirelessly for Georgia’s underserved communities, serving on the Steering Committee of the White House Initiatives on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Southeast Regional Summit and coordinating the first Asian American Legislative Day at the Georgia Capitol.
