State and local policy are the key to climate progress.

State and local governments are our best offense and defense for climate action. Collectively, these offices can achieve 75% of our country’s Paris Climate Agreement commitments and unlock America’s clean energy future.

The fossil fuel industry has long realized the significance of local policy. Despite the presence of climate champions in state and local governments, pro-climate elected officials have historically been outgunned by anti-climate interests with deep pockets. To enact the bold climate policies, we need to flip the script.

We’re in State Capitols across the country advocating for the policies that we know will be most effective at creating jobs, lowering costs for ratepayers, and reducing emissions. Our team of data analysts, policy experts, and political strategists are charting the best paths forward.

We work hand-in-hand with our climate champion lawmakers to maximize their impact.

We listen to the data.

Our unique data program helps us decide where to focus, when, and how to maximize our efforts. For example, New Mexico is the second largest crude oil producer and fifth largest methane gas producer in the United States. Our targeting work shows that New Mexico will have an increased number of pro-climate legislators in office in 2025, creating an opening to advance bold climate policy that creates more economic opportunity and safer conditions for all New Mexicans.

Help us win.
